How to Embed YouTube Videos in Comments

Since I changed hosting, there are many handy features that were available with WordPress hosting that are not readily available any longer.

Generally, more plug-ins make the site slower, and I’m at the edge of my personal tolerance for that now.  There may be a plug-in, but I’m not interested enough to find it.

However, there is always the RAW, BRUTE FORCE solution:  HTML.

This is the text of the embed code that YouTube provides for plugging a video into your site:

<iframe width=”560″ height=”315″ src=”” frameborder=”0″ allowfullscreen></iframe>

The red characters above are unique to the video you want to embed.  If you copy and paste that code into a comment, and change the red characters to the value for the video you want to embed, that should give you what you need.

For instance, hEcjgJSqSRU is the identifier for one of Weird Al Yankovic’s finest parody songs.  If it shows up below in the first comment, then we’ll know it works!
