Prayer Circle

You might think your average Zombie would not be religious.  You would be wrong.  The central figure of Christianity is a guy who was killed, and the ROSE FROM THE DEAD TO WALK THE EARTH.

You better believe a Zombie is down with that.

So, today being a day before another day, I thought it might be useful and encouraging to offer up a few words for John as he prepares for the coming tribulation.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want for brains.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my brains: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for I killed and ate the brains of all the evil creatures in the valley; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies, with their shotguns, their samurai swords and their machetes: thou anointest my head with cerebrospinal fluid; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the morgue (aka brain vending machine) of the Lord for ever.

  1. And that though we know you plan your punishment for a later date, please prepay some tomorrow at around 8:30-ish. Not the fire and stuff, cause that can get out of hand in a courtroom, just some justice for a good man. If you can spare some of that brimstone after the court date, he'll be in a Prius with MD plates, but you knew that.

  2. We have been praying daily for Mrs. Hoge and her family; and added a prayer for strength, comfort, patience, wisdom, and God's Grace, for His glory, for WJJH in his current challenges.

  3. A Moleben for John Hoge, facing persecution:

    Clergy: Blessed is our God, always, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages.

    People: Amen.

    Clergy: Glory to Thee, our God, glory to Thee.

    People: O Heavenly King, /

    Comforter, Spirit of Truth, /

    Who art everywhere present /

    and fillest all things, /

    Treasury of good things /

    and Giver of life: /

    Come and dwell in us, /

    and cleanse us of all impurity, //

    and save our souls, O Good One.

    Reader: Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy on us. (Thrice)

    Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, both now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

    O Most Holy Trinity, have mercy on us. O Lord, blot out our sins. O Master, pardon our iniquities. O Holy One, visit and heal our infirmities for Thy name's sake.

    Lord have mercy. (Thrice)

    Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, both now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

    Our Father, Who art in the Heavens, hallowed be Thy Name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

    Clergy: For Thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory: of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages.

    Reader: Amen. Lord have mercy. (12 times)

    Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, both now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

    O come, let us worship God our King.

    O come, let us worship and fall down before Christ our King and God.

    O come, let us worship and fall down before Christ Himself, our King and God.

    Psalm 117

    O give thanks unto the Lord, for He is good, for His mercy endureth for ever. Let the house of Israel now say that He is good, for His mercy endureth for ever. Let the house of Aaron now say that He is good, for His mercy endureth forever. Let all that fear the Lord now say that He is good, for His mercy endureth forever. Out of mine affliction I called upon the Lord, and He heard me and brought me into a broad place. The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. The Lord is my helper, and I shall look down upon mine enemies. It is better to trust in the Lord than to trust in man. It is better to hope in the Lord than to hope in princes. All the nations compassed me round about, and by the name of the Lord I warded them off. Surrounding me they compassed me, and by the name of the Lord I warded them off. They compassed me about like unto bees around a honeycomb, and they burst into flame like a fire among the thorns, and by the name of the Lord I warded them off. I was pushed and overturned that I might fall, and the Lord was quick to help me. The Lord is my strength and my song, and He is become my salvation. The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tents of the righteous. The right hand of the Lord hath wrought strength, the right hand of the Lord hath exalted me, the right hand of the Lord hath wrought strength. I shall not die, but live, and I shall tell of the works of the Lord. With chastisement hath the Lord chastened me, but He hath not given me over unto death. Open unto me the gates of righteousness; I will enter therein and give thanks unto the Lord. This is the gate of the Lord, the righteous shall enter in thereat. I will give thanks unto Thee, for Thou hast heard me and art become my salvation. The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner. This is the Lord's doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes. This is the day which the Lord hath made; let us rejoice and be glad therein. O Lord, save now; O Lord, send now prosperity. Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord. We have blessed you out of the house of the Lord. God is the Lord, and hath appeared unto us. Ordain a feast with thick boughs, even unto the horns of the altar. Thou art my God, and I will confess Thee; Thou art my God, and I will exalt Thee. I will give thanks unto Thee, for Thou hast heard me, and Thou art become my salvation. O give thanks unto the Lord, for He is good, for His mercy endureth forever.

    Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, both now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

    Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia. Glory to Thee, O God. Thrice.

    People: Lord, have mercy.

    People: Lord, have mercy.

    Clergy: That he will mercifully accept the present thanksgiving and prayers of us, His unworthy servants, on His most-heavenly altar, and compassionately have mercy on us, let us pray to the Lord.

    People: Lord, have mercy.

    Clergy: That He will not despise the thanksgiving of us, his unprofitable servants, which we offer with humble hearts for the good things we have received from Him, but that it be acceptable unto Him as fragrant incense and a whole burnt-offering of fat, let us pray to the Lord.

    People: Lord, have mercy.

    Clergy: That He will hearken now unto the voice of the supplication of us, His unworthy servants, and in His bounty always fulfill the good intent and desire of His faithful as may be most expedient for them; and, in that He is compassionate, will always be gracious unto us and his Holy Church, and will grant the petitions of all His faithful servants, let us pray to the Lord.

    People: Lord, have mercy.

    Clergy: That He will deliver His Holy Church and His servant WJJ Hoge III, and all of us from every affliction, misfortune, wrath and necessity, and from all enemies both visible and invisible, and will always fence His faithful round about with health, length of days and peace, and the hosts of His Angels, let us pray to the Lord.

    People: Lord, have mercy.

    Clergy: That we may be delivered from all tribulation, wrath, and necessity, let us pray to the Lord.

    People: Lord, have mercy.

    Clergy: Help us, save us, have mercy on us, and keep us, O God, by Thy grace.

    People: Lord, have mercy.

    Clergy: Calling to remembrance our most holy, most pure, most blessed, glorious Lady Theotokos and Ever-Virgin Mary with all the saints, let us commit ourselves and one another and all our life unto Christ our God.

    People: To Thee, O Lord.

    Clergy: For unto Thee is due all glory, honor and worship; to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages.

    People: Amen.

    Clergy: (In the 4th Tone): God is the Lord and hath appeared unto us. Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.

    Stichos 1: O give thanks unto the Lord, for He is good, for His mercy endureth forever.

    People: God is the Lord and hath appeared unto us. Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord. This is sung after each stichos.

    Stichos 2: Surrounding me they compassed me, and by the name of the Lord I warded them off.

    Stichos 3: I shall not die, but live, and I shall tell of the works of the Lord.

    Stichos 4: The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner. This is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes.

    Then the People sing the Troparia:

    Tone 4:

    We, Thine unworthy servants, O Lord, /

    grateful for Thy great benefits given unto us, glorifying Thee, /

    we praise, bless, give thanks, hymn and magnify Thy deep compassion, /

    and with submission and love we cry out unto Thee: //

    O our Savior and Benefactor, glory to Thee!

    Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, both now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

    Tone 3:

    Freely having been counted worthy of Thy gifts and benefits, /

    although unprofitable servants, O Master, /

    making haste we bring heartfelt thanksgiving /

    unto Thee according to our strength, /

    and glorifying Thee as Benefactor and Creator, we cry out: //

    Glory to Thee, O Most-compassionate God.

    Both now and unto the ages of ages.

    Tone 3:

    O Theotokos, Help of Christians, /

    we, thy servants, having acquired thy protection, /

    cry out unto thee with thanksgiving: /

    Rejoice, O Most-pure Virgin Theotokos, /

    and always deliver us by thy prayers from every misfortune, //

    as thou alone art quick to protect us.

    Clergy: Let us attend. Wisdom, let us attend. The Prokimenon in the Fourth tone:

    I will sing unto the Lord, Who is my benefactor, and I will chant unto the name of the Lord Most High.

    People: I will sing unto the Lord, Who is my benefactor, and I will chant unto the name of the Lord Most High.

    Clergy: My heart will rejoice in Thy salvation.

    People: I will sing unto the Lord, Who is my benefactor, and I will chant unto the name of the Lord Most High.

    Clergy: I will sing unto the Lord, Who is my benefactor.

    People: And I will chant unto the name of the Lord Most High.

    Clergy: Wisdom!

    Reader: The Reading from the epistle of the Holy Apostle Paul to the Ephesians (5:8-21):

    Clergy: Let us attend.

    Reader: Brethren, walk as children of light: (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth) proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

    Clergy: Peace be unto thee.

    Reader: And to thy spirit.

    Clergy: Wisdom!

    Reader: Alleluia (in the 4th Tone.)

    People: Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!

    Clergy: And that He will vouchsafe unto us the hearing of the Holy Gospel, let us pray unto the Lord God.

    People: Lord, have mercy. Thrice.

    Clergy: Wisdom! Aright! Let us hear the Holy Gospel.

    Clergy: Peace be unto all.

    People: And to thy spirit.

    Clergy: The Reading is from the Holy Gospel according to St. Luke (17:12-19).

    People: Glory to Thee, O Lord, glory to thee.

    Clergy: Let us attend.

    At that time, as Jesus entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off: and they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us. And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go show yourselves unto the Clergys. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed. And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan. And Jesus answering said, were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine? There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger. And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.

    People: Glory to Thee, O Lord, glory to Thee.

    Clergy: Have mercy on us, O God, according to Thy great mercy, we pray Thee, hearken and have mercy.

    People: Lord, have mercy. Thrice.

    Clergy: Again we pray for our Great Lord and Father, His Holiness, Patriarch Bartholomew; and all our brethren in Christ.

    People: Lord, have mercy. Thrice.

    Clergy: Again we pray for this land, its authorities and armed forces.

    People: Lord, have mercy. Thrice.

    Clergy: Giving thanks with fear and trembling, as unprofitable servants, unto Thy loving-kindness, O Lord our Savior and Master, for Thy benefits which Thou hast poured out abundantly on Thy servants, we fall down in worship and offer a doxology unto Thee as God, and fervently cry aloud to Thee: Deliver Thou Thy servants from all misfortune, and, as Thou art merciful, always fulfill the desires of us all unto good, we diligently pray Thee, hearken and have mercy.

    People: Lord, have mercy. Thrice.

    Clergy: In that Thou now hast mercifully hearkened unto the prayers of Thy servants, O Lord, and hast manifested upon us the tender compassion of Thy love for mankind, so also, in time to come, disdaining us not, do Thou fulfill, unto Thy glory, all good desires of Thy faithful, and show unto all of us Thine abundant mercy, disregarding all our iniquities, we pray the, hearken and have mercy.

    People: Lord, have mercy. Thrice.

    Clergy: May this, our thanksgiving, as fragrant incense and a whole burnt-offering of fat, be well-pleasing before the majesty of Thy glory, O All-good Master, and, as Thou art compassionate, do Thou always send down the riches of Thy mercies and compassions unto Thy servants. And deliver Thy Holy Church, this city, and this country from every assault of enemies, both visible and invisible. And grant unto all Thy people, a sinless and healthy length of days and success in every virtue, we pray Thee, O All-compassionate King, mercifully hearken and quickly have mercy.

    People: Lord, have mercy. Thrice

    Clergy: Again we pray also that the Lord God may hearken unto the voice of the supplication of us sinners and have mercy on us.

    People: Lord, have mercy. Thrice

    Clergy: Hearken unto us, O God our Savior, Thou hope of all the ends of the earth and of them that be far off at sea; and be merciful, be merciful, O Master, regarding our sins, and have mercy on us; for a merciful God art Thou, and the Lover of mankind, and unto Thee do we send up glory; to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages.

    People: Amen.

    Clergy: Let us pray to the Lord.

    People: Lord, have mercy.

    Clergy: O Lord Jesus Christ, our God, the God of all mercies and compassions, Whose mercy cannot be measured and Whose love for mankind is an unfathomable deep: As unprofitable servants falling down with fear and trembling before Thy majesty, now humbly bearing thanksgiving unto Thy deep compassion for Thy benefits bestowed upon Thy servants, we glorify, praise, hymn and magnify Thee as Lord and Master and Benefactor; and again falling down in thanksgiving for Thine immeasurable and ineffable loving-kindness, humbly we pray: That, as now Thou hast counted Thy servants worthy that their supplications be received and mercifully fulfilled, likewise in the time to come, as they flourish in sincere love for Thee and in every virtue, Thou wilt vouchsafe all Thy faithful to receive of Thy benefits. Delivering Thy Holy Church and this city and country from every evil circumstance, and granting unto them peace and tranquility, do Thou count them worthy always to offer thanksgiving, to tell of Thy most-gracious benefits, and to sing unto Thee, together with Thy Father, Who is without beginning and Thy Most-holy, Good and Consubstantial Spirit, God worshipped in one essence.

    People: Amen.

    Clergy: Glory to Thee, our God and Benefactor, unto the ages of ages.

    All the clergy: Amen

    The Dismissal

    Clergy: Wisdom! O most holy Theotokos, save us.

    People: More honorable than the Cherubim, and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim; who without corruption gavest birth to God the Word, the very Theotokos, thee do we magnify.

    Clergy: Glory to Thee, O Christ God, our hope, glory to Thee.

    People: Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, both now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

    Lord have mercy. (Thrice)

    Father, bless.

    Clergy: May Christ our true God, through the intercessions of His most pure Mother; of Saint Dismas and of all the saints: have mercy on us and save us, for He is good and loveth mankind.

    People: Amen.

    And then the Clergy, blessing the people with his right hand, says:

    Clergy: The blessing of the Lord be upon you, through His grace and love for mankind, always, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages.

    People: Amen.

  4. In all seriousness, though...

    Dear Father in Heaven,

    As the moment of battle approaches, be with Your disciple John. Give him peace and rest as he prepares for the fight against the agents of the Desolate One. Send down battalions of angels to guide his steps and to keep him safe from all dangers. Provide John and his support team with the facts, evidence, argument and expertise to prevail in the fight before them.

    Deliver them from the evil in their midst.

    In Your Holy Name, and in the name of Your Son, Our Savior Jesus Christ, I pray.

    Amen.

  6. I'm not sure a prayer from me would do Mr. Hoge much good, but he has my well wishes and hope for a favorable outcome against the evil that is Team Kimberlin.

      1. A liberal author once wrote that there are really only three prayers:

        1. HELP ME, HELP ME, HELP ME
        2. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU
        3. WOW!!

        I don't agree with much of her politics, but I think she got that bit right. Plus it simplifies things for those who say "but I don't know how to pray!"

        Anyone can pray. It only requires sincerity and intentionality. The Lord knows what we want to say before we conceive of it. All that is required is the barest sincere effort. He already knows.

      2. I would suggest a fourth type of prayer: HELP ANOTHER, HELP ANOTHER, HELP ANOTHER.

        I've been here from before the beginning, going back to the Wiener saga and the swatting of Patterico, and have been guilty of mopery with intent to lurk for too long. Although I have helped with tip jars (here and elsewhere) and prayers, I have stayed silent. Seeing what is happening to Mr. Hoge, I cannot remain in the shadows any longer.

        G-d bless Mr. Hoge and his family. And all the others under attack by TK.

        -- by the way, it took me almost 5 minutes to compose, type and edit this. I don't know how the Blob can be so productive with tweets while suffering from stage !!!1!!1!!eleventy!!!!!! Parkinsons.

        1. Welcome! Folks, this guy (gal?) has indeed been around for a while, and all indications are positive.

          I hope you won't mind exercising a bit more patience with me, popcornseller, but I am very, very skeptical and protective of the my domain. I know you have asked for admittance in the past, but I had no way to check you out.

          It would help enormously if you could comment more often. And still, I will probably wait far too long to make the decision.

          I have told others, and I'll tell you. The best you can do for yourself in that regard is to earn my very infrequently given trust.

          In the meantime, have FUN!

          All we have is FUN!

      3. Yep. Being trusted don't come easy around these parts (and, most understandably so).

        However, FUN does. And, I gotta hand it to popcornseller... his/her screen name is definitely FUN. 🙂

      5. PK -

        As well you should be protective.

        I am not a member of the chosen. I do not wish to be.

        I have nothing to contribute but loathing for Team Kimberlin. Your priorities should include the question of what can you contribute to the cause. I can (and do) loathe TK from the outside. If you think "well I'm 99% certain he's not a plant" then there's a 1% chance I'm a plant. Not much of a chance. But a 1% chance I'm a plant vs a 0% chance I can make a meaningful contribution?

        Otherwise you reduce the interview process to:

        Brian: "I hate the Romans already."

        Reg: "If you want to join the PFJ, you have to _really_ hate the Romans."

        Brian: "I do!"

        Reg: "Oh yeah? How much?"

        Brian: "A lot!"

        Reg: "Right. You're in."

        I suspect that the sooper sekret site is a hoot and a half, a bunch of these folks letting their grey matter down and unloading. While it can be an open sekret, it does not have to be that open.

        If I stumble upon something (unlikely) I can just email Hoge in private. Zero risk to you, minimal (at most) to me.

        Priorities.

    1. agiledog - What Dave said/wrote. In fact, your sincere prayer may be the strongest among us. You don't have to share it here; I haven't shared the exact words of my prayers.

      Your prayer will help to lighten WJJH's burden, and maybe a bit of your own through that selfless act.

  7. Dear God,

    Please unharden the hearts, let the sun shine through the black hatred and shine into the understanding that the welfare of all is all that Is at issue. Heal families, heal those sick in their soul, dissipate the anger cruelly manipulated and let them all find peace. May they all take away from tomorrow, the comfort of your infinite mercy

  10. A favorite:

    He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
    Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
    2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress;
    My God, in Him I will trust.”
    3 Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler[a]
    And from the perilous pestilence.
    4 He shall cover you with His feathers,
    And under His wings you shall take refuge;
    His truth shall be your shield and buckler.
    5 You shall not be afraid of the terror by night,
    Nor of the arrow that flies by day,
    6 Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness,
    Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.
    7 A thousand may fall at your side,
    And ten thousand at your right hand;
    But it shall not come near you.
    8 Only with your eyes shall you look,
    And see the reward of the wicked.

  11. Eternal God, in whose perfect kingdom no sword is drawn
    but the sword of righteousness, no strength known but the
    strength of love: So mightily spread abroad your Spirit, that
    all peoples may be gathered under the banner of the Prince of
    Peace, as children of one Father; to whom be dominion and
    glory, now and for ever;

    O God, the Father of all, whose Son commanded us to love
    our enemies: Lead them and us from prejudice to truth:
    deliver them and us from hatred, cruelty, and revenge; and in
    your good time enable us all to stand reconciled before you;

    Almighty God, who sittest in the throne judging right: We
    humbly beseech thee to bless the courts of justice and the
    magistrates in all this land; and give unto them the spirit of
    wisdom and understanding, that they may discern the truth,
    and impartially administer the law in the fear of thee alone;
    through him who shall come to be our Judge, thy Son our
    Savior Jesus Christ;

    O God our Father, whose Son forgave his enemies while he
    was suffering shame and death: Strengthen those who suffer
    for the sake of conscience; when they are accused, save them
    from speaking in hate; when they are rejected, save them
    from bitterness; when they are imprisoned, save them from
    despair; and to us your servants, give grace to respect their
    witness and to discern the truth, that our society may be
    cleansed and strengthened;

    Grant, O God, that your holy and life-giving Spirit may so
    move every human heart [and especially the hearts of the
    people of this land], that barriers which divide us may
    crumble, suspicions disappear, and hatreds cease; that our
    divisions being healed, we may live in justice and peace;
    through Jesus Christ our Lord;

    Almighty God, whose loving hand hath given us all that we
    possess: Grant us grace that we may honor thee with our
    substance, and, remembering the account which we must one
    day give, may be faithful stewards of thy bounty, through
    Jesus Christ our Lord;

    O God of peace, who hast taught us that in returning and
    rest we shall be saved, in quietness and confidence shall be
    our strength: By the might of thy Spirit lift us, we pray thee,
    to thy presence, where we may be still and know that thou
    art God;

    Assist us mercifully, O Lord, in these our supplications and
    prayers, and dispose the way of thy servants towards the
    attainment of everlasting salvation; that, among all the
    changes and chances of this mortal life, they may ever be
    defended by thy gracious and ready help; through Jesus
    Christ our Lord. AMEN.

  12. I don't buy into the supernatural, so I will just wish:
    -that the judge will be a clear-eyed and knowledgeable respecter of the law and common sense.
    -that anyone called to testify not find it in them to lie.
    -that everyone present in court maintain their bladder and bowel control, even if presented with a summons.

      1. I have made a couple joking or serious comments on this page, but I wish to declare my wholehearted support for WJJH tomorrow.

        Every tactical matter that has occurred to me I am certain he has considered. I have not raised it for fear of educating the midget. Every moral matter in question, is one in which he holds the high ground. He is up against a lying perjurer who is suborning perjury from his own daughter. For what it is worth, I pray for her, for redemption, and I pray for him, for justice.

        Mostly I pray for John and Connie Hoge.

        I find it hard to mean "pray" in the metaphysical sense, but in the "fervent best wishes" sense, you have my full measure.

  13. Lord, we ask your blessing on Mr. Hoge and his family at this time. We ask that you deliver him from the issues caused by those who seek to harm him. We also ask that you shine your love upon those that have set their feet on the path of darkness and their hearts to hate so that they may see the error of their ways and turn instead to the path of the righteous.

  16. Dear Father God,

    I lift Your good and faithful servant John up to You, LORD. Bathe him in your blessings and protection -- fully cloak him in Your Armor.

    Prepare John's way. Set before him Your path of righteousness. Relentlessly remind him that Your faithfulness and benevolence are enduring. Destroy those who mock truth and justice -- expose and destroy their evil and their lies.

    Place Your Word and Your Promise upon the hearts and minds of those who are lost. Open the eyes of those who do not yet know and follow You and Your instruction. Bring them to receive the gift of Your Most Holy Son the Christ Jesus. Press upon them that forgiveness and salvation come only from You, and a life of service to You -- and, not of man.

    "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:11-13)

    I come to You in prayer and petition in Your Glorious Son’s Holy Name.

    Amen.

    PSALM 54

    Save me, O God, by Your Name;
    vindicate me by Your Might.
    Hear my prayer, O God;
    listen to the words of my mouth.

    Arrogant foes are attacking me;
    ruthless people are trying to kill me --
    people without regard for God.

    Surely God is my help;
    The LORD is the one who sustains me.

    Let evil recoil on those who slander me;
    in Your Faithfulness destroy them.

    I will sacrifice a freewill offering to You;
    I will praise Your Name, LORD, for It is good.
    You have delivered me from all my troubles,
    and my eyes have looked in triumph on my foes.

  17. Psalm 140

    1 Deliver me, O Lord, from evil men;
    Preserve me from violent men,
    2 Who plan evil things in their hearts;
    They continually gather together for war.
    3 They sharpen their tongues like a serpent;
    The poison of asps is under their lips. Selah
    4 Keep me, O Lord, from the hands of the wicked;
    Preserve me from violent men,
    Who have purposed to make my steps stumble.
    5 The proud have hidden a snare for me, and cords;
    They have spread a net by the wayside;
    They have set traps for me. Selah
    6 I said to the Lord: “You are my God;
    Hear the voice of my supplications, O Lord.
    7 O GOD the Lord, the strength of my salvation,
    You have covered my head in the day of battle.
    8 Do not grant, O Lord, the desires of the wicked;
    Do not further his wicked scheme,
    Lest they be exalted. Selah
    9 “As for the head of those who surround me,
    Let the evil of their lips cover them;
    10 Let burning coals fall upon them;
    Let them be cast into the fire,
    Into deep pits, that they rise not up again.
    11 Let not a slanderer be established in the earth;
    Let evil hunt the violent man to overthrow him.”
    12 I know that the Lord will maintain
    The cause of the afflicted,
    And justice for the poor.
    13 Surely the righteous shall give thanks to Your name;
    The upright shall dwell in Your presence.

  19. Father, we know that we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places, and that many in this world abide in that darkness and walk according to the prince of the power of the air.

    However, Father, we know that the shed blood of your Son, Jesus Christ, paid the price for the sins of the world, and that His resurrection demonstrated His power over death, thus defeating the Devil.

    Father, we claim the authority of Christ's mighty victory and ask you to manifest your power in tomorrow's proceedings. Let the light of your Holy Spirit shine forth in the courtroom, exposing lies and shutting the mouths of those who utter lies.

    Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all.

  21. May God give you...
    For every storm, a rainbow,
    For every tear, a smile,
    For every care, a promise,
    And a blessing in each trial.
    For every problem life sends,
    A faithful friend to share,
    For every sigh, a sweet song,
    And an answer for each prayer.

    But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.
    Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.
    Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, because you travel around on sea and land to make one proselyte; and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves.
    Matthew 23:13-15

    2. Do you have any clue how ironic that post is, Schmalfeldt? Absolutely any idea how that verse applies more to you than any other being on the planet?

      Or did you even read it before cutting and pasting it? I know googling "bible verse" and "hypocrite" and then doing a cut-n-paste job on the first thing that comes up is so complex that you may have skipped that step.... but inquiring minds would like to know.

  28. Almighty Father, giver of all good things,
    We thank you for the men and women who have made this
    country strong. They are models for us, though we often fall
    short of them. Especially today for John Hoge and Patrick Ostronic.
    Inspire us.

    We thank you for the torch of liberty which has been lit in
    this land. It has drawn people from every nation, though we
    have often hidden from its light.
    Enlighten us.

    We thank you for the faith we have inherited in all its rich
    variety. It sustains our life, though we have been faithless
    again and again.
    Renew us.
